READING LABELS: HOW TO SPOT SUGAR BY ANOTHER NAME

This post will go through some of the most important things to consider when shopping at a dispensary. Many items that include sugar do not explicitly state “sugar” on their labels. On food packaging, there are several different names for sugar, some of which are:

  1. High-fructose corn syrup
  2. Sucrose
  3. Barley malt
  4. Agave nectar
  5. Honey

SUGAR ALTERNATIVES POPPING UP IN CANNABIS-INFUSED EDIBLES AND DRINKS

The Biggie: xylitol

Xylitol is a sweetener extracted from corn or birch wood, and it can be found in many fruits and vegetables. It has 2.4 calories per gram and 40% fewer calories than sugar. Because most of the negative effects caused by sugar are due to its high fructose content, xylitol doesn’t cause blood glucose levels or insulin spikes. There is no such thing as XILITOL.

Sugar Alternatives That Experts Say Are Better in Moderation

  • Honey: Thank the bees for their efforts. Honey has antioxidants and vitamins, as well as minerals and trace amounts of other nutrients that are beneficial to your health. However, honey does still include fructose, so use it in moderation.
  • Stevia: Stevia is a South American shrub that has been used for hundreds of years to help people maintain healthy blood sugar levels and lose weight. It contains no calories, carbohydrates, or other undesirable effects associated with manufactured sweeteners.
  • Coconut sugar: Coconut sugar is made from coconut sap that has been extracted and then cooked and has a low glycemic index and high mineral content.
  • Fruit juices: Fruits such as apples, berries, stone fruit, pears, and grapes are all naturally delicious (and great additions to edibles).

Cannabis Infused Popsicles (Vegan, Paleo and Keto friendly)

Just a popsicle with fruit, coconut, and cannabis in it.

After one batch of these cannabis-infused popsicles, you’ll see how simple and straightforward it is to produce an infinite number of these cooling summer snacks. This might turn into a cannabis popsicle blog for the next few months, so stay posted!

CBD Popsicles

You may simply prepare this dessert using CBD by adding in your own CBD product or creating your own CBD oil. I created these popsicles with a 1:1 ratio of my CBD oil and cannabis coconut oil recipe.

The dosage and ratio can be increased or decreased by using the THC/CBD dosage calculator. I’ve added it into the post directly after receiving numerous questions about molds with each posting of a recipe.
